Brown upsets Lu in Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf - Wild-card entry Dustin Brown has upset fifth-seeded Lu Yen-Hsun of 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the first round of the Dusseldorf Open on Monday.

Another seeded player fell when No. 8 Igor Sijsling lost to Jiri Vesely 7-6 (2), 6-3.

Juergen Melzer continued his comeback from injury by defeating Pablo Carreno Busta 6-4, 6-1, and Teymuraz Gabashvili rallied to defeat Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Wild-card entry Nikola Milojevic outlasted qualifier Mirza Basic 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

The red-clay event is a warm-up for the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the year.
