Johannesburg - Kevin Anderson has elevated himself to his highest ever position in the men's world tennis rankings after reaching the final of the Grand Prix Hassan II tournament in Morocco.
Anderson, South Africa's top-ranked tennis player, climbed three places to 26th in the latest ATP list released on Monday. His previous best ranking was 28th.
The big-serving South African lost to Spaniard Tommy Robredo, who ended a two-year trophy drought on Sunday with a 7-6 (8/6), 4-6, 6-3 victory in the final of the claycourt tournament in Casablanca.
Meanwhile, SA women's number one Chanelle Scheepers continued to slip in the WTA rankings, dropping one position to 70th in the world.
