Anderson lurks outside top 20

Johannesburg - Kevin Anderson continues to lurk just outside the world top 20, again struggling to break through despite reaching the final of the Atlanta Open at the weekend.

Anderson, South Africa's top-ranked tennis player, retained his career-high position of 21st in the latest ATP ratings released on Monday.

He lost out to fellow big-serving giant John Isner of the United States in Sunday's final, who scraped a 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/2), 7-6 (7/2) victory.

Chanelle Scheepers, the SA women's No 1, dropped one place to 70th in the WTA rankings.

Scheepers was eliminated by Israeli Shahar Peer in the second round of the Baku Cup in Azerbaijan last week.
