Anderson cracks top 20

Johannesburg - Kevin Anderson has become the sixth South African men's singles player to be ranked in the world's top 20, when the latest ATP World Tour singles rankings were announced on Monday.

The South African No 1 broke the top-20 barrier, climbing two places to reach a career-best number 19.

Other South Africans ranked inside the top-20 in the past were Kevin Curren - No 5 in July 1985, Wayne Ferreira - No 6 in May 1995, Johan Kriek - No 7 in September 1984, Cliff Drysdale - No 13 in May 1974 and Christo Van Rensburg - No 19th in February 1988.

South Africa's top-ranked women's player, Chanelle Scheepers, dropped to 79 in the latest women's world tennis rankings released on Monday.
