Cape Town - According to Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie, the Nigeria camp is united and in great spirits ahead of the 2014 Soccer World Cup.
Odemwingie is back in the Super Eagles setup after being omitted from the victorious 2013 African Cup of Nations squad, and is determined to help his country make a success of their World Cup campaign in Brazil.
"Luckily, I have been
picked to go and do battle for the nation in Brazil and I can assure you that I
will give my all to the team," Odemwingie said after a 0-0 draw with
Greece in a friendly international played in Philadelphia, USA on Tuesday
night.
"The talent is there, the
stars are here and we work as a family. Yes I have been away but now that I’m
back I want to give my all and ensure that we do well in Brazil", the
32-year-old Stoke City marksman added.
National team coach Stephen
Keshi was satisfied with Odemwingie’s efforts against Greece, although he feels
the former Lokomotiv Moscow man still has more to offer his side.
"Osaze is one of our
versatile players who can play anywhere in the forward line and he tried to
give his all against Greece, but it was simply not his day, even when I shifted
him to the right wing he kept pushing but as a footballer myself I knew he has
to rest and give his best at the World Cup."
