Date with destiny or disaster?

Dear Editor,

Today South African football stands on the brink of either, ultimate achievement, or dismal failure.

Asking Bafana Bafana to win by no less than five goals is like asking the All Blacks not to choke in the Rugby World Cup. Five goals? Wow, that’s Bafana Bafana’s annual allowance as far as goals are concerned. To expect five goals in one game is quite an ask.

Having said that, if there were ever a French football team ripe for the picking it’s this one. If reports and rumours are to be believed, then this disintegrating French squad might just be the unsettled outfit that we need in order to achieve that seemingly impossible five-goal victory.

So today we’ll all be there again, donning our (visible-from-space) Bafana Bafana jerseys, blowing our vuvuzelas and screaming our lungs out.

I’d like to know what the News24 users think.
