In a group which was wide open, France made sure they would qualify as group winners with their stalemate with Ecuador.

Ecuador will be kicking themselves however, as their chances seem to have been blown after Antonio Valencia was sent off, although they played with more verve after his departure, it was always going to be an uphill task.

The big winners out of tonight would definitely be Switzerland, especially after being mauled by France on Friday, which damaged their goal difference considerably.

However, fortunately for the Swiss, they did not need to use goal difference, thanks to France and even if they did, they put in a complete display to dismantle Honduras, who finish stone last in the group.

Goalless first half at the Maracana as France, with largely changed side, have struggled to manufacture any clear-cut opportunities as Ecuador are trying their best to chase the game whilst remaining defensively disciplined.

As it stands, with Switzerland leading Honduras 2-0 at half-time, Ecuador need to beat France to advance from the group as runners-up, but should Switzerland extend their lead, the South Americans task will become all the more harder.

Be sure to stay tuned to what promises to be a tension-filled second half.
