Cape Town - Belgium captain Vincent Kompany missed training on Thursday due to a groin injury, prompting fears that he may miss his side’s clash with Russia.
With the crunch Group H fixture just days away Kompany’s absence will have been a source of anxiety, but coach Marc Wilmots has looked to quell any anxiety.
"No @ VincentKompany at training today, slight strain in the groin. He is working individually with medical staff!" Wilmots wrote on his Twitter account.
There was some good news for Belgium though, with Eden Hazard returning to training after shaking off a toe injury he picked up in his side’s 2-1 in their opening match against Algeria.
