Guarin expects physical onslaught

Cape Town - Colombia midfielder Fredy Guarin expects Cote d’Ivoire to produce a physical performance when the two teams play against each other in a Group C fixture at the Nacional Stadium on Thursday.

However, the Inter Milan star remains confident that the superior passing game of the Colombian team will eliminate the threat posed by the African outfit.

"They're a very physically strong team who fight for every ball and will rely on their physicality to try to beat us, but with our football, our passing and control of the ball we can have success," Guarin said on Thursday.

The Colombians reminded the football fraternity that they are a very competent team when they disposed of Greece in the Group B opener last week and Guarin insists that there isn’t much that will need to change when his team plays against the Ivorians.

"We have to be very intelligent, always keep the game under control, don't give the ball away, but above all have confidence in what we're doing," he added.
