Tinkler looking forward to Pirates clash

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Eric Tinkler is confident his side can match Orlando Pirates pound for pound if they come to the party in Saturday's Telkom Knockout tie.

The Chilli Boys mentor, who replaced Dan Malesela in August, stated that his focus is on helping the club improve their position in the Absa Premiership, but is looking forward to the clash with his former team in the cup competition.

The 48-year-old has managed two victories from five matches since taking over the reins at the club.

"We've got Orlando Pirates first up and I think it will be a good game. I think it's a team that suits our brand of football," Tinkler said, as quoted by Kick Off website.

"They are a team that looks to play good football, so we are looking forward to it. I am happy with the draw.

"It's important for everyone to understand that for us to achieve things in the league, then we need to be winning games.

“And if it means beating Orlando Pirates and boosting morale, then that's what we need to do.”

Kick-off is at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
