Tashreeq Matthews leaves Borussia Dortmund on loan

Cape Town - Rising South African starlet Tashreeq Matthews has left German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on loan to join Helsingborgs IF in Sweden.

Matthews moved to Dortmund in November 2018 from Ajax Cape Town and immediately made a short-term switch to Jong Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie.

After spending a brief spell with Utrecht in Holland, he also made a number of UEFA Youth League appearances as well.

However, the Amajita winger now has the chance to play senior football for Helsingborgs in Sweden's Allsvenskan.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 18-year-old said: "I feel welcome and it feels very good to be here.

"The fans have to decide for themselves what kind of player I am.

"I still have a lot to learn but what I can say is that I am here to do my best and help the club."
