SuperSport lose in Kenya

Cape Town - SuperSport United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia in their CAF Confederation Cup play-off first leg clash.

Jacques Tuyisenge netted the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on 78 minutes to take the advantage going into the second leg on April 18 2018.

It was a positive start for Matsatsantsa at the Kenyatta Stadium with Morgan Gould going close with a header on 15 minutes.

George Odihiambo, meanwhile, fired wide when well placed to hit the target on 20 minutes.

SuperSport probed for an opening, but Luke Le Roux was also off target following some good approach play.

The first half drew to a close with a set-piece from Francis Kahata that was close to sneaking inside a post.

The home side were lively after the break and Reyaad Pieterse had to be alert on more than one occasion. The SuperSport stopper did well on 55 minutes to tip a shot from Odihiambo just over.

He was unable, however, to stop Tuyisenge from netting from the penalty mark with the match winding down.

It was a positive response by the away side, but they were ultimately unable to break down a resolute Gor Mahia side.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
