Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns are set to face AS Otoho d'Oyo of Congo-Brazzaville in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League while Orlando Pirates will clash with Zambia's Green Buffaloes.
Both SA sides will once again compete in Africa's most prestigious club competition after experiencing mixed fortunes last season.
Pirates crashed out in the group stages while Sundowns advanced to the semi-finals where they were knocked out by Wydad Casablanca.
If Sundowns progress to the next round they would then meet Fomboni FC from the Comoros or Cote d'Or FC from Seychelles.
Meanwhile, if the Sea Robbers advance, they will face either Zanzibar's KMKM or Desportivo de Agosto from Angola.
Sundowns were the last South African side to win the Champions League when they emerged victorious in 2016.
