Nedbank Cup Final: ‘Beyond 90 minutes experience’

Cape Town - While the 90 minutes of football is set to be thrilling between the two clubs, Maritzburg United and Free State Stars both fighting for the biggest prize in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, Capetonians have been promised an experience that transcends the 90 minutes of football.

A music concert featuring some of the country’s top artists including multi-award winning Cassper Nyovest, Busiswa, Lady Zamar and Tipcee has been lined up two hours before kick-off – starting at 17:00.

The music concert is a special touch to also appeal to a wider audience including those who wouldn’t ordinarily attend a football match.

But this is just one element. There are plenty of other activities including a Fan Zone set up around the stadium, including a soccer dash,  latest FIFA XBox games, Nedbank Virtual Reality Zone and a giant sized soccer dart for avid football enthusiasts to test their kicking accuracy, to name but a few.

The opening ceremony – which is going to include a brilliant display of lighting effects and showcase the colourful Cape Town cultures and street parades, including The Cape Town Carnival Band, will start at 18:30.

YOU GET ALL THIS FOR R40!

The first 10 000 people to purchase a ticket will also get an extra ticket to take someone with to the stadium. (See ticketing details below)

PSL Chief Executive Mato Madlala said: "We have been looking forward to coming to Cape Town for a long time. In Maritzburg United and Free State Stars, you have two clubs that have displayed quality football throughout this competition. We are excited about the line-up for the final and we would like to thank our partners Nedbank for coming to the party in our preparations for this Cup final."

"We made a commitment to South African soccer fans that we would bring the excitement and entertainment of the Nedbank Cup final to them, and we are delighted to be able to continue that this season by staging the 2018 decider in the Mother City," said Nedbank’s Head Group Sponsorship and Cause Marketing, Tobie Badenhorst.

"We are expecting a thrilling, show-stopping match between Maritzburg United and Free State Stars, two sides that are packed with talent," added Badenhorst.
