Mthembu: Cape Town City must step up for Kaizer Chiefs clash

Cape Town - Cape Town City forward Siphelele Mthembu says the Citizens have to "step up" their game when they host Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout next week.

City will play Amakhosi in the Last 16 at Cape Town Stadium on 19 October and Mthembu it is good draw as they have to raise their against the PSL league leaders.

Benni McCarthy's charges have not made the best start to the season as they have only won once in eight league games but the Chiefs clash could just be what is needed to turn things around, according to Mthembu.

The striker told reporters: "I think it's better to tap at a higher level from the beginning.

"If you start a cup slow it gives complications, but when you start with big games it gives you confidence early on.

"So, it is good for us to start with Kaizer Chiefs. We have to step up our game. We have been doing well but it is a matter of using our chances and defending better.

"It is a good draw for us, especially because we will be home."
