Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says the MTN8 has eluded the Brazilians due to its clashing schedule with the CAF Champions League.
The 54-year old coach has won every trophy on offer since taking over the reins at Sundowns in 2012 apart from the MTN8.
His only success with the trophy came during his time in charge of Supersport United in 2004.
The Brazilians heavy schedule will continue with a semi-final clash with Cape Town City on Saturday while on Tuesday they host Horoya of Guinea in a crucial Champions League match.
"It's a cup that has been elusive to us, a difficult cup because we have always missed it," Mosimane told SuperSport.
"It's a cup that is always mixed with quarterfinals and semi-finals of Champions League every year. We tried to win it when we played (Bidvest) Wits and lost 3-0, but had Zesco United on Wednesday before the final.
"There is always a quarterfinal or last match of the group in Champions league and really, really, it has been difficult to take a go at it.
"The match with City is a thorn in a flesh because it falls between the league and Champions League."
