Cape Town - Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium has been announced as the host venue for the 2018 MTN8 final on Saturday, September 29.
The final, to be contested by SuperSport United and Cape Town City, will kick-off at 19:00.
The 2018 MTN8 final has been widely billed as ‘Act II’ of the battle between SuperSport United and Cape Town City – following last season’s epic final which was decided on penalties.
At stake is the prestigious trophy together with R8 million prize money for the winner. The loser goes home with nothing bar the appearance fee.
Premier Soccer League acting Chief Executive, Mato Madlala said: “This is not just another final – but a match where both teams will be looking at either settling old scores (from last year’s final) or reaffirm that last year was not luck.
The League, SuperSport United, Cape Town City and MTN took the decision that the Moses Mabhida Stadium will provide a perfect backdrop to this encounter.
"We thank our partners MTN for always believing in our product. We believe that people will travel from Gauteng and Western Cape for this final on 29 September,” Madlala said.
Moses Mabhida Stadium is, without a doubt, one of the country’s most iconic venues and has hosted historic finals.
Mapula Bodibe, Consumer Business Executive at MTN SA said: “We are quite excited about the choice of venue. For us, it’s always been about taking the game to the people that part with their hard-earned cash to support these teams – the fans.
"Durban has successfully hosted the MTN8 Final five times since its inception and the passion of Durban fans for the game is undoubtable. We are convinced they will embrace us yet again.”
Tickets will be sold at TicketPro outlets including Spar countrywide.
