'Maritzburg should have slaughtered Chiefs' - Tinkler

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler reckons his charges were so far superior to Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday that they could've won by five or six goals.

The Team of Choice recorded a 2-1 win over Amakhosi at Mbombela Stadium thanks to a brace from Judas Moseamedi to secure their place in the Telkom Knockout final, where they will meet Mamelodi Sundowns.

Tinkler saw big weaknesses in the Absa Premiership leaders and wanted his team to hammer them by a bigger margin.

"Chiefs were there for the taking and we should have slaughtered them. A victory by five or six goals would not have flattered us," Tinkler stated after the game.

"Now we face Sundowns and I have told my players that if they want to be the best, they have to beat the best."

United will host SuperSport United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday as they resume their Absa Premiership campaign.
