Lobi Stars victory will send Sundowns to CAF CL quarters

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns can almost guarantee qualification for the next round of the CAF Champions League if they beat Nigerian outfit Lobi Stars at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

Masandawana currently sit top of group A on seven points after four games ahead only on goal difference from Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

However, with ASEC Mimosas and Lobi on four points each, Sundowns have an opportunity to stretch that lead and can even qualify from the group with a victory and Wydad beat Mimosas in other game.

Sundowns though will face a team that handed them their only defeat in the tournament so far, a 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture that was played in January.

The defending PSL champions have a perfect record at home in this season's African competition, beating Wydad 2-1 and then hammering Asec Mimosas convincingly 3-1.

Pitso Mosimane's team do not come into the game in the best form though as they were beaten 2-1 by Cape Town City on Tuesday and before that playing to a 0-0 stalemate at home to Bloemfontein Celtic.

The match kicks off at 21:00 on Saturday night.
