Several Leeds fans name children after legendary Lucas Radebe

Cape Town - After 14 years of retiring from football Lucas Radebe's legacy is still being felt as many Leeds United fans continue to celebrate their former captain by naming their children after him.

Radebe, affectionately known as "The Chief" to Leeds fans, made 256 appearances over a span of 11 years at the Yorkshire club and will be remembered as one of the greatest captains in its 100-year history.

Radebe was signed in 1994 alongside fellow South African player Phil Masinga in a £250 000 deal, believed only to keep the latter happy - but proved to be the more valuable asset.

George Bull, a lifelong Leeds fan on Monday shared on Twitter that he had named his new-born son after Radebe - with his tweet quickly garnering reactions from many other Leeds fans who had done the same.

Radebe quickly started trending on Twitter with a surprising amount of fans sharing their personal stories of naming their sons after the legendary defender and how he continued to be revered in the UK.
