Cape Town – A once in a lifetime opportunity will be granted to Tristan Hollander, a soccer player from the crime-stricken Cape Town area, Lavender Hill.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper will represent South Africa at the 2020 Alicante Cup in Spain from June 29 to July 3.
Hollender's aunt, Aletta Harris, believes the tournament will benefit the teenager in many ways after his mother died at a very young age.
"He is really excited about this tour and I believe it's going to help bring out his potential even more," she said as quoted by IOL website.
"This opportunity will also show him how to look after himself."
Ralph Bouwers, the chief executive at Guardians of the National Treasure organisation, reveals that Hollander was just 16-years-old when he made his senior debut for Lavender Hill FC.
"He was only 16 when he played with the senior team in the soccer club, which is phenomenal,” Ralph said.
Ralph added: "We want to give the junior ranks the will and motivation to stay away from drugs by giving them an alternative.
"We ask your support to make this dream become a reality and save many lives in the process."
