Komphela: Sundowns are like a cement wall

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic coach Steve Komphela believes Saturday's Telkom Knockout last 16 tie with Mamelodi Sundowns will be a tough encounter due to their quality.

Celtic are set to face the reigning Premiership champions at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria after the resumption of domestic action following the FIFA break.

Siwelele were losing finalists to Wits in 2017/18 and will no doubt have ambitions of going one better in the current campaign.

However, they face a stiff challenge against the Brazilians who have been the most dominant South African side over the past few years.

Komphela told reporters: “Not that it's tricky. The quality at Sundowns we all know and, in a situation, where teams are seeded you have no choice - you are going to get a top dog.

“We need to go through the Sundowns hurdle first, the big one. We don't want to look at the end when in the beginning you are facing a cement wall. We need to go through Sundowns and then take baby steps.

“Having been in the final last year, it gives us hope to replicate that and even go one further and win it. We have to be optimistic and we have to acknowledge it.”
