Highlands players to share R4m if they win MTN8

Cape Town - Highlands Park players will share R4 million if they win the MTN8 final against SuperSport United on Saturday, coach Owen da Gama has confirmed.

The total prize money for the MTN8 winners is R8m and Da Gama has revealed that club's directors have already said the players will share half if they win the trophy.

The sponsors have also upped the stakes for the showpiece game, having announced that every goal scored will earn the goal scorer R25 000 while the man-of-the-match will also be rewarded with R25 000 instead of the usual R8 000.

Da Gama said: I don't know how much I'm going to get but what I do know is that the players will get half (R4m) of it.

"It is going to the players, it's as simple as that. Brad Kaffel (one of the directors at Highlands) has already told me that I've got to tell the players that half of it is going to them.

"I think they deserve it; they really deserve it. Mine... we'll see. I don't know what it’s going to be."

The MTN8 final is set to be played at the Orlando Stadium.

Kick-off is at 18:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
