Club Brugge announce signing of Percy Tau

Cape Town - Belgium Pro League side Club Brugge on Monday announced the signing of South African attacker Percy Tau on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sport24 reported that the two sides had agreed a deal on Friday for the loan move of the Bafana Bafana international that will see him loaned out for the upcoming 2019/2020 campaign without an option to buy.

The 25-year-old was last season named as the Proximus League Player of the Year in Belgium's second tier after starring for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

In his maiden season in Europe the on-loan Brighton attacker made 34 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 13 assists.

Work permit rules in the UK meant it was virtually impossible for Tau to play for the Seagulls, and it is believed that he still fails to qualify for a visa for the upcoming season.

Club Brugge finished second last season in the Belgian Pro League and have a chance at Champions League football as they face Dynamo Kiev in a Third qualifying round.

The winners then advance to the final Play-off round for a chance to feature in Europe's premier competition.
