Chiefs, Sundowns avoid each other in Nedbank draw

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could potentially face one another in the final of the Nedbank Cup after the two South African giants drew other sides to play in the semi-finals of the competition.

The draw for the next stage of the tournament took place at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday following the Brazilians' 2-1 victory over Cape Town City.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi advanced to the semi-finals of the competition following a 1-0 victory over Baroka with Eric Mathoho getting the decisive goal from Siphiwe Tshabalala's assist.

Nonetheless, Maritzburg United were the first name out of the draw which earned them a home game in the last-four against Sundowns later this month.

In addition, Chiefs were handed the luxury of a home tie when they were picked to face Free State Stars for a place in the final, with all the matches set to take place on the weekend of April 20.
