Baroka edge Wits to earn place in TKO final with Bucs

Cape Town - Baroka defeated Bidvest Wits 1-0 which means they will face Orlando Pirates in the final of the Telkom Knockout.

Baroka took the advantage in the opening minutes as Matome Mabeba struck home a stunning free-kick beyond goalkeeper Darren Keet.

Soon after the Students came close to a leveler as Cole Alexander forced a fine save from Elvis Chipezeze.

Gavin Hunt's men were struggling to create openings and just before the break it was nearly 2-0 to the home side.

Tebogo Sodi found space and hit a powerful volley which Keet had to turn away. Soon after the Bafana Bafana keeper produced another spectacular stop as he pawed away from Mduduzi Mdantsane.

Substitute Gift Motupa then had a great chance to level but he fired over the bar in the second stanza.

In the 74th minute Mdantsane had a contender for miss of the season as he missed from close range.

In the closing stages Simon Murray came desperately close to leveling as he saw his header go just wide from a cross.

Nonetheless, it ended 1-0 on the day as Bakgaga advanced to the final to face Pirates with a chance of history at stake.
