United FC rocked by murder

Pretoria - United FC goalkeeper Gatsha Majola was killed after being kept hostage by armed robbers earlier this week.

It is believed that the 31-year-old goalkeeper‘s body was discovered at the early hours of Tuesday burnt beyond recognition.

A senior spokesperson at the club confirmed the news to Sport24, in an exclusive interview, on Thursday.

"Unfortunately it is true," he said.

"He was killed by armed robbers.

"On Monday, those thugs came and parked their two kombis outside the club house.

"They took him inside and vanished with him and two other guys on the street which was witnessed by other community members.

"I am not sure where they took him to but I heard this morning that he was burnt to death and beyond recognition.

"Two of those thugs were arrested yesterday.

"His family is still devastated by the news.

"United FC would like to pass their deepest condolences to the Majola family in this difficult time,” he concluded.
