SA duo receive U17 SWC nod

Johannesburg - Referee Daniel Bennett and assistant referee Zakhele Siwela will be flying the South African flag at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup hosted by the United Arab Emirates from October 17 to November 8.

The South African duo will join 61 other FIFA-accredited match officials at the tournament.

Bennett and Siwela depart for Dubai on Wednesday for the 52-match tournament to be played at six venues across the UAE.

The pair had previously officiated in both FIFA and CAF matches, the most recent being the 2014 Brazil World Cup Group J qualifier between Senegal and Uganda.

Sewela also officiated at the previous under-17 world cup, held in Mexico in 2011.
