Khune: We’re focused

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper and captain, Itumeleng Khune, says that the side had a "lengthy talk" about their recent defeats, but are now focused on SuperSport United.

According to the Soccer Laduma website, the Amakhosi have lost their last two games, against Mamelodi Sundowns and Mpumalanga Black Aces, relinquishing their spot on top of the PSL in the process.

Now, as the Nedbank Cup reaches it’s final stages, they are looking to make sure that they don’t lose a grip on that trophy too.

Speaking to the media, Khune said, “As players we had a lengthy talk about the loss to Black Aces and how to respond in the next game. We are disappointed to lose two games at FNB Stadium in succession. But what is important for us at the moment is getting back to winning ways.

“We have to make them feel they are playing at FNB. We will give SuperSport United the respect they deserve, they’re a tough side but we are the defending champions and want to progress to the next round of the competition.”

The two teams played in last year's Nedbank Cup final which the Glamour Boys claimed through a solitary strike by Bernard Parker in extra time.

The Amakhosi will continue their Nedbank Cup defence against SuperSport on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Matsatsantsa to FNB Stadium.
