Jordaan appointed PE mayor

Port Elizabeth - SAFA president Danny Jordaan has been appointed as the new mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality as part of a reshuffle on Monday.

The Herald's website reports that the ANC has also appointed Bicks Ndoni as Jordaan's deputy mayor, while Litho Suka will replace Joy Seale as the new chief whip.

Jordaan replaces Benson Fihla, with the 83-year-old been seen as "too old to effectively engage with communities" as the ruling party hopes to gain support in the Eastern Cape municipality's urban areas.
