Free ride for CHAN fans

Cape Town - Ticket holders for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) double-header on Wednesday in Cape Town will enjoy a free Metrorail train ride to the stadium, event transport organisers announced on Tuesday.

All fans with valid match tickets for the South Africa versus Mali and Nigeria versus Mozambique games have been granted free access to Metrorail services on the day.

Ticket holders travelling from Fish Hoek (via Wynberg), Hatfield (via Cape Flats), Bellville (via Monte Vista), Kraaifontein (via Goodwood), Kaptainsklip (via Pinelands), Chris Hani (via Mutual) and Belville Sarepta) could take advantage of the offer, to and from the games.

Metrorail's train schedule would run as a normal service during the day and special trains would be made available for fans travelling home from the matches.

These trains would start running only after the end of the second match, with no special service provided at the end of the first game.

Valid match-ticket holders should produce their ticket on their way back from the stadium in order to board the train. A R40 fee will be charged for fans without tickets.

Trains were expected to start leaving Cape Town Station at 23:00 with the last train departing at 23:10.
