Banyana honoured with opener

Johannesburg - Banyana Banyana will play Cameroon in the opening match of the ninth edition of the CAF African Women's Championships.

The Group B match was scheduled to be played in Windhoek, Namibia on October 12.

In Banyana's group is Cameroon, Algeria and Ghana, who will battle it out for two spots in the semi-finals.

In Group A, are hosts Namibia, and Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria, also fighting for the two spots in the last four.

Banyana finished in second place in the previous edition of the tournament in 2012.

The top three finishers at the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, scheduled for Canada in June next year.
