Johannesburg - The South Africa national Under-20 side drew 1-1 with Cameroon in their African Youth Championships (AYC), first leg, tie in Yaounde on Saturday afternoon.
A ten man South Africa had to come from a goal down to salvage the draw and will be happy with their away goal.
The second leg, scheduled for August 30, will take place in Polokwane.
South Africa need to win the two-legged fixture in order to qualify for the Youth Championships, which take place in Senegal from March 8-22.
The top three finishers at the AYC will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
