Bafana star back in SA

Johannesburg - Former Ajax Cape Town player Thulani Serero is back in the country and was training with his former team-mates in the Mother City on Thursday morning.

The 22-year-old midfielder is one of the players included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and Botswana in June.

Serero left the Urban Warriors for Ajax Amsterdam at the end of last season after doing well for the side and winning the PSL Player of the Season award among other individual accolades for his hard work.

Ajax’s media and communications manager Mark Meyer said that Serero made a stop at the Ikamva-based side on his way to joining with his Bafana team-mates in camp.

“Yes, he trained with us this morning. He arrived last night. He’s just training with us and he’s going to go and report for national duty. I haven’t spoken to him yet but I’ll do so later,” said Meyer.

Serero did not enjoy his first season overseas as much as he may have hoped due to injuries that halted his progress, however, he is back to full fitness and his presence will be vital for Bafana in their quest to qualify for the next World Cup.
