SAFA wishes Pirates well

Johannesburg - The South African Football Association (SAFA) has wished Orlando Pirates well as they head to Egypt for their African Champions League group stage match against Al Ahly.

Pirates will take on the seven-time African champions on Sunday at the El Gouna Stadium at 16:30.

Pirates are the only South African club left in continental club competitions.

This is their second group stage match having drawn the opening match 0-0 with AC Leopards of Congo on July 20.

Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund believes that it is important for local clubs to participate in continental club football in order to gain the much-needed experience, which will go a long way in improving Bafana's fortunes.

The Bafana Bafana coach urged all South Africans to rally behind the Buccaneers as they will be flying the South African flag in Cairo.
