SAFA send its condolences

Johannesburg - SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani sent condolences on Thursday to the families of the nine players killed in a crash in the Eastern Cape.

Their death was a great loss to local football, he said.

"This is sad day for us as an association, for the Inkwanca LFA and also for the entire football family.

"The face of Inkwanca football will never be same without these players.

"We wish to express our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the players who passed away.

"Our heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with them at this difficult time, and we hope they find strength to cope with their loss."

The nine players were part of the Inkwanca Local Football Association (LFA) squad.

They were killed while travelling back from a friendly game in Jamestown on Sunday.

A combined memorial service was held at the Molteno Rugby Stadium on Thursday.
