Leopards beat Warri Wolves of Nigeria 2-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday for a 3-3 aggregate score but progressed on away goals rule, having scored a precious away goal in their 3-1 defeat in Nigeria a fortnight ago.

"I would, on behalf of SAFA, want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Black Leopards. They continue to carry the South African flag high and we would like to wish them all the best in the next round of the competition," said SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani.

"They have really made the country proud and I would like to take this opportunity to thank club chairman David Thidiela for a job well done. SAFA will continue to give the club all the support during their campaign on the continent," he added.

This is Leopards' first appearance in CAF's second tier of the continent's club competition. They now join the eight qualifiers and eight CAF Champions League second round losers for the intermediate round of the competition. The draw for this round will be made on Tuesday with the winners advancing to the group stages.

Despite fighting relegation at home, Leopards" performance in the African club competition has been a fairy tale. They beat Zimbabwe's Motor Action 3-1 in the first round and accounted for DRCongo's St Eloi Lupopo in the second round 6-4 on aggregate. Sapa
