Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza has admitted that the total sponsorship agreement with his club, Kaizer Chiefs and Vodacom, which was on Thursday extended for five years, is around R1 billion.
While Khoza was reluctant to disclose exact figures, he did confirm that the sponsorship amount cleared the billion rand mark.
The chairperson added that the two teams are grateful for Vodacom's continued backing in these tough financial times.
"I can't say how much is the real figure because things change and figures change. This sponsorship is plus/minus R1 billion.
"We are happy that the game is growing and that what we have built in years will be strengthened in the next five years. We have to work hand in hand with all the stakeholders in the game.
"To Vodacom, I would say thank you for believing in us and we promise to continue doing the best in football in the country," Khoza concluded.
