Zungu on Tau's transfer link to France

Cape Town - Former Mamelodi Sundowns pair Percy Tau and Bongani Zungu have the chance to be reunited in France at Amiens SC.

With the European summer transfer window rumours in overdrive, Tau could make a yet another major move in just two years.

After penning a deal with Brighton at the end of the 2017/18 season, the 25-year-old was ineligible to play for the Premier League outfit and seemingly joined Belgium second division side Union Saint-Gilloise.

The player made quite a name for himself as he was crown the Proximus Player of the Season.

What makes the transfer link stronger than usual is that Saint-Gilloise’s coach Luka Elsner was lured to France and was recently announced as Amiens new manager.

"It would be good for him, I feel it's about time he gets a chance to play in one of the best league's in the world and compete against the best players," Zungu told KickOff.

"I feel he's got the capacity to play the highest level, whether they [Amiens] want him or not, I don't know, I've heard talk about it - it would be nice for him.

"Like I said, it would be good for him as he will grow mentally and physically. Percy spoke to me about him, he's told me that he's a top coach and that's the most important thing to me."

Meanwhile, Tau and Percy are both in Cairo, Egypt with Bafana Bafana as they compete in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

South Africa suffered a 1-0 defeat in their opening encounter against Ivory Coast and will now face Namibia in a must-win clash.

Kick-off is on Friday, June 28 at 22:00 (SA time).
