Zulu sad to lose Kerr at Black Leopards

Cape Town - Black Leopards left back Pentjie Zulu says the departure of coach Dylan Kerr is disappointing as the Englishman inspired him to play his best football.

Kerr surprisingly stepped down after guiding Leopards to safety in 2018/19 after what was a tumultuous season for Lidoda Duvha.

Leopards needed a 1-0 win on the final day against Cape Town City to ensure their safety in South Africa's top flight, with Free State Stars being relegated at the bottom of the standings.

Nonetheless, Zulu takes the view that Kerr did a top job and helped his side produce good attacking football.

He told KickOff: "Hey, it doesn't sit well with me you know.

"It's not my decision to make but as for me he is a good coach. We were starting to understand him and the football he was making us play. He is a top coach.

"For me since he arrived you see, we had just played a game against Polokwane City and he came to me and since then he admired the way I play.

"He told me to play football the way I know how as I'm good at what I do. He told me not to be afraid of anything. So he gave me a free role. I was my old self again.

"I was now playing my own football. I don't know who is going to replace him, but any coach that is coming we must adapt to his style of play."
