Cape Town - Last campaign's Footballer of the Season Thembinkosi Lorch is slowly but surely finding his best form again, according to Orlando Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer.

Lorch lit up the Absa Premiership last season but made a slow start to the new campaign as he found it difficult to live up to the higher expectations.

However, Zinnbauer says he has been impressed by what he's seen from Lorch over recent weeks and praised the work he has put in to become a more well-rounded team player.

"Lorch... you (the media) know better than me that Lorch is a big player in Africa," Zinnbauer said, as quoted by SowetanLive.

"Last year, he was very well, doing many good things and now he's on the way. He's returning to his best form gradually.

"For me, it's because he's been working on his defending (that he is slowly getting his best form) and in the past, it wasn't like that.

"Now he works for the team, he's a team player. He's definitely heading in the right direction."
