Zinnbauer: Door is always open for Pirates youngsters

Cape Town - Josef Zinnbauer has encouraged the Orlando Pirates youth players to keep working hard because there is always a chance they can break into the first team.

The Buccaneers' reserve team are challenging leaders Mamelodi Sundowns for the Multichoice Diski Challenge title this term and currently sit six points behind them.

Meanwhile, striker Sifiso Luthuli is one of the players turning heads in the under-21 league, scoring 11 goals this season.

Zinnbauer has made it clear that he is always keen to give young players a chance in the first team if they show signs that they can make the step up to the Absa Premiership.

"We regularly have players from the youth team or under-21 team with us in training, and we have fun with them," said the German tactician, as quoted by KickOff.

"I'm happy about one, two or three players that we have, and I think they have maybe a chance in the next months to move from the training sessions into the squad.

"It's a question for the player himself, and if he has a good performance then my door is open for this."
