Cape Town - Yannick Zakri scored late on as Ajax Cape Town recorded a 1-1 draw with Chippa United to claim a massive point in their battle for Absa Premiership survival.
It was a relatively slow start by both sides but Chippa looked the more dangerous in attack, with Mario Booysen doing well to stop Mxolisi Macuphu from racing through on goal.
Mark Mayambela was well wide with a free-kick on 28 minutes before Paseka Mako did well to deny Zakri after he had beaten James Okwuosa.
Mako then rattled the crossbar as Ajax looked to up the tempo towards the end of the first half, and while they came out after the break in full flow, it was Chippa who took the lead on 53 minutes.
Macuphu was well placed to finish a Chilli Boys corner with Thabo Rakhale claiming the assist.
Mosa Lebusa then did well to cut out an opportunity for Mayambela before Morne Nel fired over from close range.
Ajax though were ending strongly and after some good passing football and with their heads up, they came close to an equaliser, with Samuel Julies seeing a header clear off the goalline, before Zakri calmly slotted home following some poor defending from the hosts.
