Xulu used by Chiefs in different role

Cape Town - Out of favour Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyanda Xulu has been used by the club in the community as part of a marketing initiative.

The central defender, who reportedly signed a lucrative deal with Chiefs and is thought to be among the club's highest earners, joined the Glamour Boys ahead of the 2015/16 season.

However, he has made just five appearances and appears to be completely out of favour under coach Steve Komphela. The centre-back is yet to even be named in a match day squad for the Naturena-based outfit this season.

With that said, the former Rostov star is still under contract and is now being used in the community as part of a marketing campaign to connect with fans.

The player recently dropped off a Chiefs tracksuit to fan Zolani Matola's house in Pinetown. Matola had purchased the merchandise at the side's new online store, and was rewarded with a home delivery.

Xulu said of the initiative: "This is a great idea from the club. When I was still a young kid, I would have loved to have, for example, Fabian McCarthy, visit my house."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
