Xulu opens up on contract situation

Cape Town - Maritzburg United defender Siyanda Xulu has shed some light on his contract situation at the Team of Choice.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns defender has only six months left on his contract situation.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side's clash against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16, the 28-year-old revealed he was open to staying with the side while not ruling out a move abroad.

"I always said I want to stay, but obviously there's something we have to restructure, me and the chairman (Farook Kadodia)," Xulu said.

"But we know very well from where I was before I even came here, so I will just give it all that the club needs for now."

After spending four months on the injury table Xulu has played down suggestions that he is on his way abroad at the end of the season but didn't rule out such a move at some point in the future.

"It was just too much for me to even think about the move after four months," he continued.

"Unfortunately, it was part of me getting injured, so I was focusing on getting back and playing, helping the club to achieve our objective.

"Obviously going forward we would try to look for better options, but for now as I said, I want to stay here."
