Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are alleged to have transfer-listed Siyanda Xulu after the player leaked tactical information to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the Telkom Knockout Cup final in December last year.
Xulu had a below-par first season at Chiefs after arriving as marquee signing at the beginning of the 2015/16 campaign. He was expected to revitalise his career at Naturena after struggling to make an impact for Rostov in the Russia Premier League.
However, the defender played just five league games for the Glamour Boys last season before falling out of favour under Steve Komphela in the second half of the campaign.
Nonetheless, Sunday World reported that Xulu was placed on the transfer list by Chiefs after leaking information to Sundowns prior to the Telkom Knockout Cup final. The Brazilians won 3-1 as Amakhosi were outsmarted on the day by Pitso Mosimane's charges.
Chiefs, at the time, denied the player's listing was due to the leaking of tactics with manager of football Bobby Motaung telling Goal.com website, "The recommendations we got (to place him on the list) were because of the playing aspect of it in terms of his contribution."
Since being listed, there appears to be have been little interest in the centre-back, likely because the 24-year-old is on a substantial financial package and this seems to have scared off potential suitors.
With that said, there could be light at the end of the tunnel for the Bafana Bafana international. Chiefs appear willing to give the Durban-born star a second chance and he has been actively involved in the club's pre-season preparations so far.
The former Sundowns star has four more years remaining on his current deal with the Soweto giants.
