Wits strengthen squad with Bantu, Mhlongo signing

Cape Town - Absa Premiership outfit Wits have announced the addition of three new players to Gavin Hunt's squad ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The Students have recruited goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo from Orlando Pirates, as well as midfielders Bantu Mzwakali and Mxolisi Machupu of Chippa United.

Wits endured a tough league campaign last time out and appear to be in the process of re-building the squad as they look to once again challenge for the PSL crown.

Already on their books is veteran centre-back Robyn Johannes, who joined Wits on a pre-contract agreement from Cape Town City at the end of the season.

Mhlongo made eight loan appearances for Chippa whereas Machupu played 13 games for the Chilli Boys and scored four goals.

Meanwhile, Mzwakali made just one start for the team from Port Elizabeth which seemingly prompted his move.

Wits' official Twitter account said: "Welcome to the newest members of the Clever Boys family Bantu Mzwakali, Mxolisi Machupu and Brighton Mhlongo."
