Wits slap R15m tag on Vilakazi

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits have slapped a R15m valuation on star midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi, who is a January transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Soweto-born midfielder was recently the subject of a R9m bid from Amakhosi, according to Wits' official website, while Sundowns have yet to firm up their interest with an "acceptable offer".

And, while the Clever Boys would like to retain the services of the talented player, it seems he could be allowed to leave the club if an acceptable offer is lodged.

However, that in itself is not a guarantee that Vilakazi will depart in January, as Wits are determined to hold onto the midfielder until the end of the current campaign.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are known to be very interested in landing the Bafana Bafana midfielder.

"However, the Amakhosi recently had a R9m bid for the player turned down while Sundowns are also yet to submit an acceptable offer.

"Despite the fact that Vilakazi's future has been one of the most spoken about topics in recent months, with under two weeks of the transfer window now left, it is seeming increasingly likely that Wits will fend off interest from elsewhere and keep the midfielder in Braamfontein as they look to challenge for silverware."
