Maritzburg United are interested in
turning Phumlani Ntshangase's loan deal into a permanent move, the
player's agent has revealed.
The 25-year-old Bidvest Wits midfielder has spent the season on loan with the Team of Choice, where he has impressed.
Last term, Ntshangase was on loan with SuperSport, but with his
current Wits contract set to expire at the end of the season, it has
been suggested that the player will sign on in Pietermaritzburg.
Wits failed to renew a clause in Ntshangase's contract before sending
him on loan this season, with Sizwe Ntshangase telling the SowetanLIVE that
a permanent deal is on the cards.
He said: "Maritzburg gave us a proposal and we did respond to them,
so everything has been put on hold since this pandemic which is
affecting the whole country.
"As it stands, there is nothing that I can confirm until everything
returns to normal. What I can confirm, though, is that Maritzburg are
interested in keeping him but we will deal with this after this
Ntshangase played 13 matches for Maritzburg this season.
His agent continued: "What's important for him is to play regularly.
If the opportunity comes for him at Maritzburg then I don't think it can
be a problem of him not wanting to stay there.
"If things go well with Maritzburg in our negotiations then he will remain there.
"He is free to sign a pre-contract with anyone but we can't go around and say do this, we have to respect Maritzburg and Wits."
