Wits launch new 2017/18 kit

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits have launched their new home and away playing kit for the upcoming 2017/18 season as the Premier Soccer League champions look to defend their domestic title.

The unveiling took place at a press briefing with the Clever Boys' new signings donning the 2017/18 jerseys that sees the club remain true to their traditional blue and white colourway.

Coach Gavin Hunt introduced his new acquisitions by highlighting the importance of never resting on their laurels - despite being crowned league champions last season.

"A club of our size needs to value every single match and treat it like a cup final," Hunt said.

"We are always trying to improve our squad, we definitely do want something more up front."

New signing, Steven Pienaar detailed how he was settling in to his new surroundings at their Sturrock Park training base and that it was an easy decision to join the club.

"There were other options but when I met with coach, [Hunt] he was more interested in my family and that touched me. It was easy to decide.

"I'm getting used to the guys and how they play and my fitness levels are improving as well. When I left I was young, It's different and the pace of the game is higher.

"I have to get used to it, I'm excited for my first game, Pienaar said.

Hunt concluded by saying that he needed to be "clever" in how he raised the fitness levels of the former Everton player to capitalise on his footballing quality.

Wits play their first competitive game of the season when they will look to defend their MTN8 title against Lamontville Golden Arrows on August 11 at the Bidvest Stadium.

Kick off is at 20:00.
